What is happening to the children on our southern border is an atrocity by any standards. (See articles posted on The immediate and long-term mental and emotional development of babies and children are being sacrificed to Mr. Trump’s insistence on the Wall, and he has clearly indicated he is OK with both the separations and the popular reaction; he simply doesn’t care. This amounts to government sponsored child abuse. We should all be outraged.

The Trump administration is using the children as ammunition in a war of state-sponsored terrorism against the Central American cartels. It is a war he can never win even though the cartels care no more about these people than he does. It is profoundly wrong and since he won’t see that, it is up to us, the people, to stop it now.

Republican and Democratic Senators and Representatives are decrying the un-American and inhumane nature of this policy- but have not shown the courage to act.

SO WE MUST ACT NOW… Call, Text, Email, FAX, and/or TWEET your United States Senators and Representatives to demand that they match action to their words.

  • Separation of children from their parents at the border must stop now, and those already separated must be reunited immediately. Every other consideration is secondary.

Additional immigration points that can be made:

  • We must help Central American countries mitigate the circumstances that drive refugees from their homes to our borders;
  • Our immigration judicial processes must be expanded to handle the load;
  • Asylum must be granted as a matter of law for people whose governments cannot control the violence and crime that puts refugees in fear of their lives.
  • Make DACA permanent… Dreamers are our people, too.

On June 30, cities across the country will host protests against the Trump administration’s cruel family-separation policy. Stay tuned for local details.
