With 2018 now here, we wanted to remind you just how much Indivisibles have accomplished nationally in the first year of this movement.
We’ve forced more than a dozen high-profile, safe Republicans to retire because of our constant constituent pressure. We defeated the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Twice. We’ve supported progressives up and down the ballot in Virginia, Michigan, Washington, and Alabama and won.
In 2018, we won’t just fight to resist the Trump agenda. Transylvania Indivisible is joining Indivisibles across the country by going on the offensive. During the midterm elections, we’ll work to publicly define issues, differentiate and endorse candidates, and elect progressive representatives up and down the ballot.
Contested Seats in Transylvania County: Congressional District 11; NC House District 113; NC Senate District 48; 2 Commissioner seats (Chapman and Phillips); and 2 School Board seats.
What you can do at this point:
- Identify good candidates for office and encourage them to run;
- Familiarize yourself with those candidates who have already filed (we will have some help for that);
- Begin to familiarize yourself with issues and positions (we will have some help for that) and keep them public;
- Commit to participating in voter registration drives (more on this in a separate post) when called.
