In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court upheld the state of Ohio’s egregious policy of removing people from the voting rolls if they had not voted in a while. Ohio has purged 2 million voters since 2011 and of course, Black voters are TWICE as likely to be purged as whites! (See “Supreme Court…”)

As if SCOTUS upholding a blatantly racist policy with this racist decision weren’t bad enough, national Republicans are doing their damnedest to make it even harder for those people to register to vote once they’ve been purged. We must push back.

Same-day voter registration would allow eligible voters to register to vote on Election Day. This would nullify these blatant voter suppression laws the GOP is cooking up. Even if people are kicked off the voter rolls, they could register on the spot on Election Day!

Right now 15 states and the District of Columbia take one more hassle out of voting by allowing same-day registration, so people can register and vote all in one place. But we need laws that protect every single eligible U.S. voter, in every state.

The GOP keeps waging war on our voting rights, because they can only win by cheating. The American people hate their cheater president, and if they want a fighting chance in 2018, they know they’ll have to cheat and deny the votes of our growing base of young, people of color, and LGBTQ progressives who’ve had enough.

We are still going to mass mobilize, register new voters, old voters, and purged voters. With same-day voter registration, at least one of their slimy voter suppression tricks loses power.
