Hill Hooky: Hundreds of Lawmakers Skip Classified Briefing on Foreign Election Interference

Rep. Mike McCaul (R-Texas) said that he was surprised at the lack of attendance Tuesday for a briefing on how to prevent Russian meddling in the upcoming midterm elections.

All 428 House members were invited to attend the classified briefing about election interference, but Rep. James Langevin (D-R.I.) said that only “a good 40 or so” attended the meeting.

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, FBI Director Christopher Wray and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen all spoke at the 8am ET meeting.

“The Democrats have made this such a big issue and have asked for this briefing for a long time,” said McCaul, the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.
