Mountain Song Festival is committed to being an environmental-friendly event and they are succeeding.  The Projects Group of the Pisgah Sierra Club met with John Felty, organizer of the festival on October 23, 2017, in Brevard.  John told us they had 15 bags of trash with 7500 attendees over 3 days.  Wow!  Let’s break that down in household terms.

That is the equivalent of a household of 2 creating 1.5 bags of trash a year.

How do they do it?  They make it a priority.  They make it easy.  They make it fun.

Recycling fun?  You bet.

The Projects Group is working to develop a best-practices report to help those in our community model after those who are already a success.  We are looking for ways to be a positive force for change in the community.  Maybe we can be a roving group who helps others implement best practices of others in our community?  Maybe you will see us at a new recycling station at your favorite community event!

By the way, we are always looking for new members.  Please let us know if you would like to join our Sierra Club Projects group!
