Five highlights from the tense Wray-Rosenstein hearing

In a classic example of schoolyard grandstand bullying, taunts and personal insult employed on behalf of Trump, the House Judiciary Committee Republicans assaulted Rod Rosenstein for 5 hours in the ongoing effort to discredit him, the Department of Justice, and the FBI. In so doing, they intended to undermine the Mueller investigation of Russia’s machinations in our 2016 election. The performances were an abrogation of every Congressman’s oath to uphold and support the Constitution, a disgrace to the rule of law, a deliberate subordination of the rules of critical discourse, and an insult to the rules of common civility. Their hatefulness on behalf of President Trump was an appalling example of everything we have come to abhor about politics today.

Facebook Fundraiser For Separated Immigrant Families Raises $12 Million In 5 Days

I have been dunned for money at every turn since this iteration of the resistance was born, and I am truly sick of it. But I have been very deeply affected by the plight of children and families on our southern border during this time of state sponsored atrocity. So I offer this post with only small reservation as a celebration of the passion of real Americans. Be heartened, but don’t step away from the challenge until all children are returned to their families- and that may be months, years or never.

Big laws. Little notice. Late nights. ‘It seems like we get worse every session.’

This is a crucial time for state residents, as their representatives are rushing to end their work for the year. Important changes to elections, consumer rights, tax laws and medical care are first made public hours, or even minutes, before legislators start voting on them.

Every Action Has an Equal and Opposite Reaction- It’s Time to Stand Up and Be the Reaction

It is time we accepted that the President of the United States is a demonstrated pathological narcissist and liar with no regard for consequence. According to Eric Boehlert, Trump is devoid of empathy and lacks a soul or a heart.  He is filled with a deep emptiness driven by sociopathic paranoia, grandiosity and cruelty.  This man embodies the definition of a sociopath.

Transylvania Indivisible Issues an Urgent Call To Action: Tell Your Senators to Oppose Cuts to Early Voting

In recent years, through illegally gerrymandered voting maps and unconstitutional voting restrictions, politicians in Raleigh have attempted to hold on to their political power by undermining North Carolina voters’ access to the ballot. Unfortunately, they’re at it again.

Antarctica’s ice is shrinking at an unprecedented rate that could imperil coastal regions worldwide

The Antarctic ice sheet lost nearly 3 trillion metric tons of ice from 1992 to 2017, and its rate of loss over that time tripled in West Antarctica, according to an international collaboration involving about 80 scientists.

The finding, published Wednesday in the journal Nature, reveals that the continent’s ice is shrinking at an unprecedented rate and could mean an even higher sea level rise by 2100. That would have serious implications for the environment and for people living in coastal regions around the world.

170 College Row, Brevard, NC 28712, USA

Brevard College SGA is calling for students, teachers, school administrators, parents and allies to take part in a#NationalSchoolWalkout for 17 minutes at 10am across every time zone on March 14, 2018 to protest Congress’ inaction to do more than tweet thoughts and prayers in response to the gun violence plaguing our schools and neighborhoods. We need action.

Students and allies are organizing the national school walkout to demand Congress pass legislation to keep us safe from gun violence at our schools, on our streets and in our homes and places of worship. Students and staff have the right to teach and learn in an environment free from the worry of being gunned down in their classrooms or on their way home from school. Parents have the right to send their kids to school in the mornings and see them home alive at the end of the day. We are not safe at school. We are not safe in our cities and towns.

Congress must take meaningful action to keep us safe and pass federal gun reform legislation that address the public health crisis of gun violence. We want Congress to pay attention and take note: many of us will vote this November and many others will join in 2020. Join us in saying #ENOUGH!
