British Protest Trump with Loud Visuals

President Donald Trump said he felt "unwelcome" in London after the city's mayor, Sadiq Khan, allowed a 19-foot-tall "Trump Baby" blimp to fly over the Houses of Parliament. "I guess when they put out blimps to make me feel unwelcome, no reason for me to go to London," Trump said in an interview with The Sun. "I used to love London as a city. I haven't been there in a long time. But when they make you feel unwelcome, why would I stay there?"

The numbers prove our government has been taken over by a tyrannical minority—but there is hope

This is how you end up with a nearly all-white, all-male minority party in control of the government, despite an increasingly diverse electorate overall. The current system gives wildly disproportionate power to rural, mostly white states across the middle of the country at the expense of all states with major populations of people of color. This is the broken system that allowed Mitch McConnell to remain in power. It allowed Mitch McConnell and his coup conspirators to steal a Supreme Court seat, securing a conservative wing of the court that will damage this country for generations. The rest is going to be up to you, dear readers. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. It is up to each of us to get involved in ways large and small. Find a candidate and donate your time and your money. Phone back, donate, fundraise, register voters, knock on doors, put out those yard signs. Take it all back and then let’s fix this broken system, starting with throwing the Electoral College in the trash where it belongs.

Five highlights from the tense Wray-Rosenstein hearing

In a classic example of schoolyard grandstand bullying, taunts and personal insult employed on behalf of Trump, the House Judiciary Committee Republicans assaulted Rod Rosenstein for 5 hours in the ongoing effort to discredit him, the Department of Justice, and the FBI. In so doing, they intended to undermine the Mueller investigation of Russia's machinations in our 2016 election. The performances were an abrogation of every Congressman's oath to uphold and support the Constitution, a disgrace to the rule of law, a deliberate subordination of the rules of critical discourse, and an insult to the rules of common civility. Their hatefulness on behalf of President Trump was an appalling example of everything we have come to abhor about politics today.

A Running List of How Trump Is Changing the Environment

The Trump administration’s tumultuous presidency has brought a flurry of changes—both realized and anticipated—to U.S. environmental policy. Many of the actions roll back Obama-era policies that aimed to curb climate change and limit environmental pollution, while others threaten to limit federal funding for science and the environment. This post surveys 2018 EPA "accomplishments" and provides you with a link to prior efforts.

As Migrant Families Are Reunited, Some Children Don’t Recognize Their Mothers

PHOENIX — One mother had waited four months to wrap her arms around her little boy. Another had waited three months to see her little girl again. When the reunions finally happened Tuesday in Phoenix, the mothers were met with cries of rejection from their children. “He didn’t recognize me,” said Mirce Alba Lopez, 31, of her 3-year-old son, Ederson, her eyes welling up with tears. “My joy turned temporarily to sadness.”
